My night routine

I am a big believer that things in life should be simple and that includes my skincare routine. Before I used a lot of products, but now with less time and because I want to get into bed and sleep, I decided to downgrade it and do a simpler routine that works. Today I will share my night routine, which usually takes longer, but again I want it to be simple and workable.

My night routine usually consists of oil cleanser, cleanse, toner, serum, ampoule, essence, emulsion, eye cream, moisturizer, and face oil. You may look at this and wonder, why am I calling this simple? Well, I used to do a lot more products, by downsizing, I pick the products my skin needs instead of pilling on stuff on my face.

I love a good oil cleanser, you can use a balm too, but I have not had any luck finding one I love. I currently use the Thank You Farmer Pollu-free deep pore cleansing oil. Is lightweight and has a faint floral scent, it emulsifies easily to get rid of makeup. Now for my cleanser I always use a gel, since I have combination skin, but on the drier side, a gel cleanser just works better for my skin. I have used foam cleanser but afterwards by skin feels tight and itchy. I am currently using the Purito Defence Barrier Ph cleanser, but my holy grail will forever be the CosRx low PH cleanser.

Toner can be skipped, but again depending on what I need I tend not to do this. I always use a thick toner, because it helps my skin feel a bit more hydrated right after cleansing. Currently using the Mother Made all green tea-rouble-away toner, get it? Love the pun and this toner. It has a medium thick consistency, hydrating and you can layer more if needed.

As for ampoules and serums, they are essentially skin treatments and depending on the formulation they are concentrated, so you can use both or just one. I use both in my routine, just because I feel like I need them and for the past month my skin feels a lot more hydrated. Current favorites are: Vely Vely Artemisia Return Ampoule and Real Barrier Cicarelief Serum. An essence is great for prepping the skin since some do have active ingredients, like hydration and anti-aging properties. I love the Vely Vely Artemisia Balance Essence, again the floral scent is relaxing, lightweight product that can be layered to. Emulsions are basically lotions, which are not heavy and help hydrate more the skin. Not to be confused with a moisturizer, they are not the same thing, but they do help lock in serums better. I am in love with the Artemisia Return Emulsion from Vely Vely.

The under-eye area is one of the most delicate and since I suffer from eye allergies, I am incredibly careful of the products I use for my eyes. Now I am only using the Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG from The Ordinary.

As for moisturizers, I love a good gel or cream that I can use alone or as almost the last step on my routine. I’m using the Easydew EX repair control renewal moisture and finishing it with the Good Molecules Squalane Oil. Now this has been a game changer for me, I used to put the face oil before my moisturizer, which you can do, but I decided to do it as my last step and wow, it locks in the moisture better. My skin when I wake up feels and looks softer, hydrated and the dry patches are less visible.

As you can see a skincare routine doesn't need to be complicated, you can adjust them to your skin needs or in my case on how fast I want to get to bed and sleep. I am curious to know your routine as well, let me know in the comment section.
